This November, Arizonans will have a clear choice between two very different candidates with two very different records, governing styles, and visions for the state. Katie Hobbs is a bipartisan problem solver who is focused on tackling the challenges hard-working Arizona families face. As governor, she puts the partisan noise aside and delivers results. Her working-class upbringing and financial struggles raising her own family motivate her to put more money back in Arizonans’ pockets, lower everyday costs, and keep our communities safe.
The alternative is Washington politician Andy Biggs, one of the most extreme members of Congress who has a decades-long record of using his power to protect criminals engaging in sexual abuse, pedophilia, and child sex trafficking. And when it comes to Arizonans’ everyday concerns, he turns a blind eye to their struggles and continues supporting Washington policies that are driving up the cost of everything from groceries to housing to gas. The contrast couldn’t be more clear, and Arizonans will reject Biggs’ disastrous agenda at the ballot box.
Who is Andy Biggs? An extremist Washington politician who opposes bipartisan legislation to lower costs and has a long history of siding with pedophiles and sex traffickers.
Former chair of the far-right Freedom Caucus, Biggs has made a name for himself in Washington by voting against large bipartisan majorities. In fact, he was ranked 432 out of 435 for bipartisanship and recently admitted that “bipartisanship is probably not my number one goal.” Just this summer, he voted against two overwhelmingly bipartisan pieces of legislation that address top concerns for Arizonans: lowering the cost of housing and cracking down on scammers targeting seniors. He voted for the partisan Washington budget that raised healthcare costs for over 400,000 Arizonans, took healthcare away from nearly 200,000 Arizonans altogether, and has already closed one hospital and endangered eight more. And he doesn’t want to stop there – he proudly said he supports a “more cut approach” and has tried to eliminate Medicaid completely. He has doubled down on the chaotic tariffs, calling them “brilliant” and dismissing inflation entirely, voted to keep gas prices at all-time highs, and voted to raise the Social Security retirement age.
What’s worse is Biggs’ decades-long record of protecting pedophiles and sex traffickers. When Biggs was Senate President in 2013, he used his political power to protect a cult of pedophiles who were sexually abusing and trafficking girls as young as 9-years-old in Colorado City, Arizona. Even legislators in his own party said Biggs “protected the bad guys” and said Biggs’ reason for allowing the abuse to continue is “probably a reason he’s uncomfortable sharing with the public.” Asked recently if his actions led to many more years of child sex crimes, Biggs said he “wasn’t concerned.” The pattern of protecting abusers continued in 2015 when Biggs killed a bill— sponsored by then-Senator Katie Hobbs— to end the rape kit backlog, letting predators get away with heinous crimes. And in 2025, he was one of just two members on a House Oversight Subcommittee to vote against releasing the Epstein files.
Over the next several months, every Arizonan will ask themselves why Biggs has repeatedly found himself on the side of pedophiles, convicted sex offenders, and the powerful insiders who protected them – and why Biggs would ever deserve their vote.
With Biggs as governor, Arizonans would pay 23 percent more on everything and lose fundamental rights that should be long-settled.
As much as Biggs tries to hide from his disastrous record, he’s also dodging questions about what he would do as governor. It’s not hard to see why he refuses to answer tough questions because his answers are deeply out of touch with everyday Arizonans.
For years, Biggs has been trying to burden Arizonans with a 23 percent sales tax on everything they purchase, including food, gas, rent, and clothing. He tried to push this European-style tax on Arizonans when he was in the state Legislature, he continued his crusade in Congress, and he’d make it a reality if he were to become governor. Arizonans don’t want more bad ideas from Washington politicians driving up their everyday costs.
It’s not just that Biggs would make life unaffordable for Arizonans; his extreme positions on Arizonans’ fundamental rights make the stakes of this race sky high. While Biggs refuses to say whether he supports repealing the right to abortion Arizonans enshrined in the constitution just two years ago with Prop 139, his silence speaks volumes. Just look at his record: He has spent years fighting to ban abortion nationwide with zero exceptions for rape and incest and celebrated the revival of Arizona’s Civil War-era total abortion ban, calling it a “monumental win.” As governor, he would sign bills restricting reproductive freedom every chance he gets, and the constitutional protections Arizonans fought so hard to pass would be at risk.
Biggs isn’t just your run-of-the-mill election denier; he’s a January 6th organizer and helped create the fake elector scheme to overturn Arizona’s election results in 2020. He later begged Trump for a pardon and then defied a congressional subpoena, so it should be no surprise that he’s already undermining faith in the 2026 election. As governor, Biggs would oversee and certify the 2028 presidential election. Arizona is one of the seven swing states that decide presidential elections. If Biggs becomes governor, Arizona would be the first swing state with an election denier in charge. The time to stop that is not 2028 — it’s now.
The Hobbs campaign is prepared to come out on top of a very close race.
Arizonans have repeatedly rejected Kari Lake-style politicians like Andy Biggs, but Arizona’s elections are won by razor-thin margins. Katie Hobbs knows how to win close statewide races, and the campaign is preparing for another tight race and won’t take a single vote for granted.
With historically strong fundraising, Hobbs has built early campaign infrastructure that reaches Arizonans in every corner of the state. She’s been able to define herself with more than $8 million in English and Spanish communication that has been entirely unanswered from the other side. The coordinated campaign, Copper State Victory, has already opened 9 field offices across the state and has dozens of organizers on the ground having face-to-face conversations with voters. And Hobbs herself has hit the campaign trail visiting small businesses, festivals, Tribal nations, breweries, and farms – hearing from Arizonans and talking about how to keep Arizona moving forward. With over a hundred press events and interviews just in the first half of this year, Hobbs is taking her message directly to the public and proudly sharing her record of standing up for Arizona against Washington’s cost-hiking agenda.
Meanwhile, Biggs is limping into the general election after spending over a year in a grueling primary highlighting just how unpalatable he is to moderates, independents, and swing voters. Even his allies admit his campaign has shown little sign of life, and Biggs is personally nowhere to be found except on right-wing media and Turning Point USA events.
Because of Arizona’s +9 Republican electorate and with Republican voters naturally consolidating behind their nominee post-primary, this race will tighten as we head into the fall, and the final outcome will likely be just as close as Hobbs’ last 0.7-margin victory. While the polls and pundits may predict a Hobbs victory right now, national dark money groups are gearing up to spend tens of millions of dollars to flip this seat by deceiving voters with false attack ads and shady tactics. The Republican Governors Association has named Hobbs their top incumbent target and Turning Point USA has called the race “priority #1.” No matter what is thrown at the campaign, Hobbs remains squarely focused on showing Arizonans how she’s fighting for them, and her campaign will ensure every Arizonan knows exactly who Andy Biggs is and whose side he’s on.
