ROUNDUP: Katie Hobbs Travels Across Arizona on Salute to Service Tour, Honoring Arizonans Who Serve Our State

PHOENIX – Following the 4th of July and America 250, Gov. Katie Hobbs traveled across Arizona on her “Salute to Service” tour, meeting with and thanking veterans and public servants for the essential role they play in keeping our state running every day.

As a social worker and daughter of veterans, Hobbs understands firsthand the sacrifice it takes to serve. That commitment has guided her throughout her career, delivering for Arizonans and supporting the veterans, healthcare professionals, and others whose service strengthens our communities.

  • Narrator: Governor Katie Hobbs was in Chandler today, sitting down with veterans and advocates to talk about some of the biggest challenges facing Arizona military families. The roundtable focused on issues like housing, jobs, and access to support services for those who served.

  • Ron LaSalvia: In a state where we have a lot of high tech, a lot of defense industry, they all require project managers, and every soldier, sailor, airman, and marine knows how to get things done.

  • Gov. Hobbs: You heard a lot of gaps, and so I think that I have my marching orders to continue to work to make sure the Department of Veterans Services is doing their job, and the Veterans Advisory Council, to make sure that we’re connecting folks to the help and support they need. 

  • Narrator: The governor highlighted efforts already underway, including tax cuts for disabled vets and the state’s Homes for Heroes initiative, aimed at reducing veteran homelessness.

Gov. Hobbs Hosting Veterans Roundtable

  • Katie hosted a roundtable with veterans at the John S. McCain III VFW Post 7401 in Chandler to discuss the challenges facing Arizona’s military families, and reaffirmed her commitment to protecting the benefits and care Arizona’s veterans depend on, so they can thrive long after their service ends.

Gov. Hobbs Volunteering at Sister Jose’s Women’s Center

  • Hobbs toured the facility at Sister José Women’s Center, cooked dinner for residents with the staff and volunteers, and sat down with residents to learn more about how the center supports the local community.
