Katie Hobbs Releases New TV Ad, “No Clue,” Exposing Biggs’ Scheme To Hike Costs for Arizona Families by 23 Percent

Wednesday, July 22, 2026

PHOENIX – Today, Gov. Katie Hobbs, in conjunction with the Navajo County Democratic Committee, launched a new ad, “No Clue,” highlighting Andy Biggs’ latest claim that there is “no inflation” while exposing his decades-long support for a 23 percent sales tax that would raise costs on everyday purchases like groceries, gas, rent, and school supplies. The ad underscores how out of touch Biggs is with the financial realities Arizona families face every day.

The ad uses Biggs in his own words dismissing rising costs by claiming there is “no inflation,” despite prices increasing 4.2 percent over the past year and Arizona families continuing to pay more for everyday necessities. Instead of acknowledging that his votes in Washington led to those higher costs, Biggs has spent years advocating for a tax hike that would make them even worse.

Biggs’ support for a 23 percent sales tax is no accident—it’s the latest chapter in his decades-long crusade to replace the income tax with a broad consumption tax, otherwise known as a sales tax. As an Arizona legislator, Biggs cosponsored legislation to replace Arizona’s income tax with a higher sales tax. In Congress, he championed the “Fair Tax Act,” which would replace the federal income tax with a 23 percent national sales tax. In his own words, Biggs’ “most passionate tax issue” is eliminating the income tax and replacing it with a higher, broad sales tax, praising the model for having “reinvigorated Ireland.” “My biggest passion for Arizona is to come and see a complete overhaul,” Biggs said, “and I think a consumption tax is the best way to do that.”

“Andy Biggs says there’s ‘no inflation,’ then turns around and champions a 23 percent sales tax that would make everyday essentials even more expensive for Arizona families,” said Michael Beyer, Communications Director for Elect Katie Hobbs. “Andy Biggs’ 23 percent sales tax is 100 percent wrong because Arizona families can’t afford another Washington politician making life more expensive.”
