Katie Hobbs Releases New Ad, “Big Tax Biggs,” Slamming Biggs’ 23 Percent Cost Hike on Arizona Families

PHOENIX – Today, Gov. Katie Hobbs launched a new ad, “Big Tax Biggs,” exposing Andy Biggs’ plan to impose a 23 percent sales tax that would drive up the cost of everyday expenses like groceries, rent, and clothing for Arizona families.

The spot features Biggs in his own words explaining why the consumption tax is “nice,” and exposing just how out of touch he is with the costs Arizona families face every day. As a state legislator, he pushed for this new 23 percent sales tax on Arizonans, and he tried to do it again in Congress. He even calls it his “most passionate” issue. Andy Biggs isn’t focused on lowering costs for Arizona families – he’s focused on pushing a tax-hiking scheme that would make everything Arizona families buy more expensive.

“Arizona working families are already stretched thin, and Andy Biggs thinks a 23 percent tax on everything they buy would be ‘nice,’” said Michael Beyer, Communications Director for the Katie Hobbs campaign. “At a time when Arizona families are worried about affording groceries and gas, Andy Biggs is so out-of-touch he wants to make every trip to the checkout line even more expensive.”
