“Better”: New Ad Contrasts Katie Hobbs’ Record Of Cutting Taxes With Andy Biggs’ Scheme To Hike Them by 23 Percent

PHOENIX – Today, Gov. Katie Hobbs, in conjunction with the Navajo County Democratic Committee, launched a new ad, “Better,” drawing a sharp contrast between her track record of cutting taxes for everyday Arizonans and Andy Biggs’ scheme to hike taxes by 23 percent.

The spot highlights Katie Hobbs’ record of working across the aisle to cut taxes every year she’s been in office, including for veterans, seniors, and families, and eliminating the tax on rent, tips, and overtime pay. It also details Andy Biggs’ crusade for a 23 percent sales tax on everything Arizona families buy, including food, clothing, school supplies, and rent, laying out their records and making the choice clear for Arizona families.

As a state legislator, Andy Biggs pushed for a higher sales tax on Arizonans, then tried again for a 23 percent sales tax in Congress, even calling it his “most passionate” issue. Hobbs, meanwhile, signed a bipartisan budget this year delivering $1.4 billion in tax cuts for hardworking Arizonans, including a larger standard deduction for 88 percent of taxpayers, a new $6,000 deduction for Arizona seniors, and no tax on overtime hours and tipped wages.

“While Katie Hobbs is cutting taxes and putting money back in Arizonans’ pockets, Andy Biggs has voted for Washington’s cost-hiking agenda, and his tax-hiking agenda would make things even worse,” said Michael Beyer, Communications Director for the Katie Hobbs campaign. “Whether it’s 23 percent higher prices on clothes, rent, or food, Andy Biggs would cost Arizona families big time.”
