GILBERT –  Today, Gov. Katie Hobbs and her running mate, former Mesa Mayor John Giles, toured MKB Construction’s headquarters and prefabrication facility and met with the Carpenters Local 1912 President Fabian Sanchez, company leadership, and local employees to learn about the work they do and discuss their commitment to protecting workers across Arizona. This visit comes ahead of Labor Day as Katie and John continue to travel the state, meeting directly with the working people who keep Arizona running.

“I’ve worked across the aisle and with partners all over the state to deliver for workers and ensure organized labor always has a seat at the table. Together, we’ve boosted apprenticeship opportunities, lowered healthcare and childcare costs, and strengthened heat safety protections,” said Katie Hobbs. “My opponent, Andy Biggs, has a very different record, repeatedly turning his back on working people and backing Washington’s cost-hiking agenda. Arizona deserves a governor who will fight for working people, not sell them out.”

Since taking office, Governor Hobbs has worked to deliver for Arizona workers and ensure unions have a seat at the table. Her administration is working to double state apprenticeships through the BuildItAZ initiative, launching a first-in-the-nation Workplace Heat Stress State Emphasis Plan to protect outdoor workers from Arizona’s extreme heat, and blocking legislative efforts to erode worker protections.
