On First Stop of Arizona First Tour, Katie Hobbs Highlights Toll of Rising Healthcare Costs and Washington Funding Cuts At Alliance Behavioral Health

PHOENIX – As the cost of healthcare continues to rise and many Arizonans struggle to retain coverage because of Washington’s misguided policies, Gov. Katie Hobbs visited Alliance Behavioral Health in Gilbert – the heart of Biggs’ own congressional district – on the first stop of the Arizona First Tour. There she visited the facility and spoke with psychologists, social workers, and administrators about the importance of access to affordable healthcare and how she is working to lower costs.

Roundtable participants discussed their concerns about the rising cost of healthcare, emphasizing how factors like affordability and access disproportionately affect vulnerable populations. They also described how recent federal funding cuts are straining hospitals and healthcare providers, and creating barriers to patient care.

“While I have been fighting my whole career to expand affordable healthcare for Arizonans, Andy Biggs has been doing the opposite — fighting tooth and nail against expanding Medicaid, voting to raise premiums and close hospitals, and now voting to kick hundreds of thousands of Arizonans off their healthcare,” said Katie Hobbs. “If he becomes governor, every Arizonan’s healthcare is at risk. I’ll keep fighting to lower healthcare costs, protect access to care, and make sure every Arizonan can afford the healthcare they need. And that’s the choice in this race.”

This was the first event of Katie’s Arizona First Tour, where she will travel more than a thousand miles across the state to speak directly with Arizonans, listen to their concerns, and talk about how she’s delivered on the issues that matter most to their families and communities.
