PHOENIX –Â Today, Gov. Katie Hobbs, in conjunction with the Navajo County Democratic Committee, launched a new ad, âLifelines,â slamming Andy Biggs’ record of ripping away Arizonansâ healthcare and threatening the Social Security theyâve spent their lives paying into.
The spot details how Biggs voted to strip healthcare from hundreds of thousands of Arizonans and against lowering prescription drug costs and capping insulin prices, while also pushing to cut Social Security and raise the retirement age to 69. Despite warnings from his own party, Biggs voted for the largest healthcare cuts in modern history, legislation that kicks hundreds of thousands of Arizonans off their coverage and has already forced nine healthcare clinics and a Tucson hospital to close. Rather than opposing the cuts, Biggs defended them as “a good thing” and argued for “the more cut approach.”
âOut-of-touch politician Andy Biggs has spent his career trying to rip away the lifelines Arizona families depend on, from healthcare to Social Security,â said Michael Beyer, Communications Director for the Katie Hobbs campaign. âWhen Washington is already driving up the cost of groceries and gas, the last thing Arizonans need is a Washington politician like Biggs making things even worse by driving up healthcare costs and threatening the retirement security Arizonans have spent their lives paying into.”
