TUCSON – Yesterday, Gov. Katie Hobbs visited southern Arizona where she met with the Pascua Yaqui Tribe to discuss tribal priorities, rallied supporters at the opening of the Tucson Copper State Victory coordinated campaign office, and joined staff and volunteers at the Sister Jose Women’s Center to help cook dinner for residents and learn more about the center’s work.
Katie toured the Pascua Yaqui wellness center, met with community members, and addressed tribal leadership and event attendees. She spoke about her work as both secretary of state and governor to remove barriers to voting in Tribal communities. Members told her about the reservation’s first-ever ballot drop box — meaning this will be the first election cycle voters can use it. She encouraged members to make their voices heard in the upcoming elections.
Afterwards, Katie launched the first Copper State Victory coordinated campaign office in Tucson, kicking off their general election statewide field program. She spoke about the stakes of the upcoming election, emphasizing the importance of local organizing.
Finally, Katie joined the Sister José Women’s Center for their “Supper Club” program. She toured the facility, cooked dinner with the staff and volunteers for residents, and sat down with residents to learn more about how the center supports the local community. This event was the final stop in Katie Hobbs’ Salute to Service Tour, where she traveled across Arizona to meet, listen to, and honor the Arizonans whose service strengthens our communities.
