PHOENIX – Today, Gov. Katie Hobbs hosted a roundtable with veterans and advocates at the John S. McCain III VFW Post 7401 to discuss the most pressing challenges facing Arizona’s military families, and reaffirm her continued commitment to delivering for Arizona’s veterans. She was joined by former Mesa Mayor John Giles, who co-chaired the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ Task Force on Ending Veterans Homelessness and endorsed Hobbs’ re-election bid last week.

“Veterans have put everything on the line and made so many sacrifices to protect our country and freedoms. Growing up as the daughter of a veteran, I learned the values of service and sacrifice, and I believe we should honor those who answered the call,” said Katie Hobbs. “As governor I have been a fierce advocate for our veterans by cutting taxes for Arizona’s disabled veterans and allocating over two million dollars to address the issue of veterans homelessness through my Homes for Heroes initiative.”

During the roundtable, participants shared concerns about VA delays and the impact of recent federal funding cuts on access to benefits and care, underscoring the unique challenges facing the military community. Gov. Hobbs reaffirmed her commitment to protecting the benefits and care Arizona’s veterans depend on, so they can thrive long after their service ends.
