PHOENIX – Today, Gov. Katie Hobbs announced the endorsement of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) Action Fund, an organization with more than 3 million members and activists, focused on combatting the climate crisis, protecting the environment, and ensuring access to clean air and water. The NRDC Action Fund is supporting Katie Hobbs because of her record of lowering energy costs, protecting Arizona’s water, and defending Arizona’s natural resources.
“Katie Hobbs has proven herself to be a leader who takes Arizona’s environmental and water challenges seriously,” said Jed Ober, Managing Director of the NRDC Action Fund. “As governor, she has stood up to foreign interests exploiting Arizona’s groundwater, invested in wildfire response, and worked to address the threats posed by extreme heat and drought. We are proud to endorse Katie Hobbs because she is committed to protecting Arizona’s natural resources and lowering costs for families across the state.”

Since taking office, Katie Hobbs has made lowering energy costs and protecting Arizona’s natural resources a priority of her administration:
- Canceled the leases of a Saudi Arabian corporation pumping Arizona’s groundwater unchecked and shipping its crops overseas;
- Relaunched and expanded the scope of the Governor’s Office of Resiliency to better address the threats to Arizona’s natural resources and the effects of climate change;
- Secured more than $272 million to support clean energy programs through the Governor’s Office of Resiliency;
- Launched the Efficiency Arizona program, helping families upgrade to energy-efficient appliances that lower utility bills and reduce energy use;
- Appointed Arizona’s first-ever Chief Heat Officer to address Arizona’s rising temperatures in the summer and protect public safety during extreme heat;
- Announced the AZFIRECAM program, which funds the installation of wildfire cameras across Arizona to advance early detection and decrease response time.
