FLAGSTAFF- Yesterday, Gov. Katie Hobbs and her running mate, former Mesa Mayor John Giles, brought the Arizona First Tour to Flagstaff, where they toured the Nackard Pepsi bottling plant and heard directly from the owners about how Washington’s cost-hiking policies are impacting operations, stopped by the Flagstaff Copper State Victory office to kick off a canvass, and stressed their commitment to fighting for affordable healthcare for every Arizonan, alongside Protect Our Care.

Katie and John visited the Nackard Pepsi bottling plant, touring the warehouse, recycling facility, and trucking and distribution center. Afterward, they held a roundtable discussion with workers about how Washington’s cost-hiking policies are affecting operations and mingled with employees.

Later, Katie and John kicked off a canvass at the Flagstaff office of the Copper State Victory coordinated campaign. They thanked volunteers and organizers for their hard work before attendees headed out to talk with voters about what’s at stake.

Finally, Katie and John joined Protect Our Care’s “Sick Of It! Fix Health Care Now” bus tour at Flagstaff’s Heritage Square, where Katie called out Andy Biggs for voting for, defending, and taking credit for the largest Medicaid cut in history, which has put up to a quarter million Arizonans on track to lose coverage, and then saying he wanted to cut even deeper. She contrasted Biggs’ career-long crusade against healthcare, from pushing to abolish Medicaid to blocking KidsCare for 30,000 children, with her record of expanding Medicaid, strengthening KidsCare, and erasing more than $1 billion in medical debt for nearly 700,000 Arizona families.

Over the next four days, Hobbs will continue her Arizona First Tour across Arizona, meeting with educators, small business owners, students, unions, volunteers, organizers, and working families in communities statewide. The Arizona First Tour reflects her continued commitment to showing up, listening to Arizonans’ concerns firsthand, and continuing to fight for lower costs and greater opportunity for every Arizona family.
