12 News: “A First of Its Kind Ticket Is Taking Shape in Arizona Politics”

 

PHOENIX – Gov. Katie Hobbs and her pick for lieutenant governor, John Giles, hit the airwaves after announcing their historic, bipartisan ticket, appearing on local television outlets to share their Arizona First vision and their commitment to keep delivering for Arizonans.

The selection has already drawn national attention for the coalition Hobbs and Giles are building around putting Arizona first. The Washington Post called the decision from Hobbs a “politically rare ticket in an era when partisanship reigns supreme.” On FOX 10 Talks Republican political consultant Marcus Dell’Artino noted the fact that the ticket “captured the message,” and will build a broad coalition uniting Republicans, Independents, Democrats. Bloomberg called it “a surprising act of bipartisanship in an era otherwise defined by extreme political polarization.” One Republican consultant said Giles is “regarded amongst the non-partisan element of the state as a problem solver.”

On 12 News, Katie emphasized her and John’s shared goal of delivering for Arizonans above all else: “It has been a priority for me to have someone who shares my approach to governing, putting partisan politics aside and focusing on Arizonans. I’ve worked with Mayor Giles for a very long time, and I know that’s his approach as well, when he was mayor of Mesa.”

On Univision, they emphasized how tackling Arizona’s most pressing bipartisan issues has been the focus of Hobbs’ administration from the start: “From day one of my administration, I’ve been focused on addressing border security issues—going after human traffickers, utilizing the National Guard, and seizing drugs at the border. We’ve been successful in cracking down on criminal activity, and that remains the focus: public safety across all of Arizona.”

On Arizona’s Family, they emphasized the importance of working across the aisle to solve the challenges Arizonans face: “If you look at most of the challenges we’re facing as Arizonans, they are not Democratic or Republican challenges. Tackling our water security, making sure Arizonans are safe, providing educational opportunities, and protecting reproductive freedom, which is not a partisan issue–it’s something the vast majority of Arizonans support–we’re on the same page.” 

FOX10: 2026 AZ governor’s race: Hobbs, Giles address key issues

On Fox10, they laid out the stakes of the race and the choice Arizonans face in November: “This election is a choice between leadership that puts Arizona first, which we are always going to do, and someone who is one of the most extreme politicians in the entire country and is always going to put that partisan agenda ahead of Arizonans.”
