Kari Lake’s Latest TV Ad Is Based On Lies

NPR: “Political candidates can say some outrageous things”

PHOENIX — According to a recent report, gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake’s outrageous lies about the 2020 election are the centerpiece of her latest television ad, aimed at voters in Phoenix, Tucson, and Yuma:

Lake, a Republican former TV anchor who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, got lots of attention with an introductory ad in which she invoked the lie that the 2020 election was rigged (and that the news media won’t cover the rigging).

“If you’re watching this ad right now, it means you’re in the middle of watching a fake news program,” Lake said in the ad. “You know how to know it’s fake? Because they won’t even cover the biggest story out there: the rigged election of 2020. And rigged elections have consequences.”

Kari Lake’s dangerous and never-ending lies about the 2020 election being stolen continue to threaten the integrity of our democracy. This message is also only focused on reaching one person, and one person only — former president Donald Trump.

“Arizonans deserve leadership who will be honest about the challenges we face and straightforward about what we must do to address those obstacles,” said spokesperson Jennah Rivera. “Kari Lake’s lies may satisfy Donald Trump, but they do nothing to help Arizonans — and that will be clear at the ballot box in November.”
