Amid Budget Surplus, Katie Hobbs Revives Call To Pass Her Affordable Arizona Economic Relief Plan
PHOENIX — Yesterday, the Arizona Mirror reported that Arizona will have $5.3 billion in surplus revenue as the legislature and Governor debate spending for the next fiscal year beginning July 1.
Arizona families are facing some of the highest inflation rates in the country and are seeing everything from the cost of child care to prescription drugs to school supplies skyrocket. Yet, Governor Ducey and his Republican legislature have failed to provide Arizonans with economic relief.
Last month, Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs released her Affordable Arizona plan that focuses on immediate economic relief that will make a difference for every Arizonan right now when they need it most. Hobbs’ Affordable Arizona plan outlines her agenda to lower costs for families with children, help Arizonans get back to work in good-paying jobs, and protect Arizonans’ health and well-being.
“There is no excuse not to provide meaningful economic relief for hardworking Arizona families right now — today,” said Katie Hobbs. “I have a plan to do that, and I am once again calling on Governor Ducey and our legislature to put partisan politics aside and help lessen the burden of inflation and put money back in Arizonans’ pockets.”
