Historic Coalition of Arizona’s Largest Unions Endorse Katie Hobbs
PHOENIX — A coalition of Arizona’s largest unions on Tuesday announced their endorsement of Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs. The endorsement from the historic coalition representing over 50,000 union workers and their families comes on the heels of recent endorsements from labor groups in the state.
“Secretary Hobbs’ commitment to Arizona’s working men and women dates back to her days as a social worker, member of the Arizona Legislature and now Secretary of State,” according to a joint statement from the coalition, comprised of UFCW 99, Teamsters 104, UNITE HERE Local 11 and the Arizona Education Association. “During one of the most challenging times in Arizona history, Secretary Hobbs took the lead fighting to protect our democracy from extremists’ attacks. We know and trust Katie Hobbs. More importantly, she knows us, the men and women who work hard every day for our citizens. Nobody is better prepared with the strength to be Arizona’s next governor than Katie Hobbs.”
“I am incredibly proud to have the support of so many groups that represent Arizona workers,” Secretary Hobbs said. “With the U.S. labor movement the strongest it’s been in decades, we need leadership who will build on this momentum and continue advocating for better workplace conditions. As governor, I will fight to lower the cost of living for working families and help Arizonans get back to work in good-paying jobs.”
The latest endorsements add to a growing number of labor groups that have put their support behind Hobbs, including the Arizona State Association of Letter Carriers, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Arizona, the Arizona State Council of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, the American Federation of Teachers Arizona, and more.
