Katie Hobbs’ Statement on Arizona Court of Appeals Ruling
PHOENIX — Today, the Arizona Court of Appeals granted an emergency stay of the Pima County Superior Court’s ruling two weeks ago that allowed a draconian territorial-era abortion ban to take effect. In response, Arizona Secretary of State and Democratic nominee for governor Katie Hobbs issued the following statement:
“Today’s decision by the Arizona Court of Appeals is yet another devastating sign that women’s rights are hanging by a thread, and it’s all the more reason we must elect a governor who will never compromise Arizonans’ freedoms,” said Hobbs. “I have been unequivocal in my belief that the government and politicians have no place in women’s personal health care decisions, but my opponent Kari Lake has told us time and again that she supports government mandates that risk women’s lives, criminalize doctors, and don’t allow for exceptions even in cases of rape or incest. She can’t run away from her uncompromising views that are vastly out of touch with the majority of Arizonans and that put our families in danger.”
