PHOENIX – Today, Katie Hobbs is proud to announce the endorsement from AFSCME, which represents tens of thousands of public service workers across Arizona, and AFSCME Retirees. AFSCME is backing Gov. Hobbs because of her proven commitment to protecting workers’ rights, expanding workforce development, and delivering real results for Arizona families.

“Gov. Katie Hobbs has been a champion for public service workers from day one,” said Frank Piccioli, AFSCME People Committee Chair. “She’s fought to improve job safety, expand opportunities for career advancement, and ensure frontline workers have the respect and resources they deserve. Gov. Hobbs doesn’t just show up for workers — she stands with us, and she stands up for us. That’s why AFSCME is proud to endorse her for re-election.”

“I’m deeply grateful for AFSCME’s support,” said Katie Hobbs. “As someone who is a proud AFSCME member and understands the challenges facing working families, I’ve made it my priority to make a real difference for Arizona families — safer workplaces, stronger protections, and more pathways to good-paying jobs. We’ve made important progress, but there’s still more to do. I’ll always fight for the hardworking people who keep Arizona running.”

With Katie Hobbs as governor, labor has always had a seat at the table. It’s why the first endorsement of her campaign came from the Arizona AFL-CIO — because no one fights harder for working Arizonans.

Since taking office, Gov. Hobbs has made protecting and championing working families a cornerstone of her administration, including:

  • Launched a first-in-the-nation Heat Stress State Emphasis Plan to protect outdoor workers with requirements for water, shade, and rest on the hottest days;
  • Brokered a historic labor agreement at TSMC, ensuring safety, training pipelines, and good-paying jobs for Arizona workers on high-tech projects;
  • Created the Talent Ready AZ Initiative and established a first-of-its-kind Workforce Cabinet to align education, training, and economic agencies around one goal: connecting Arizonans to good-paying jobs in fast-growing industries like clean energy, cybersecurity, and advanced manufacturing;
  • Doubling the number of apprenticeships through the BuildItAZ initiative, with new investments and partnerships to train the next generation of trades professionals;
  • Delivered paid parental leave, childcare investments, and healthcare expansions for working families, including canceling $2 billion in medical debt, benefitting over one million Arizonans.
