PHOENIX—Today, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District 36, announced their endorsement in Secretary Katie Hobbs’ run for governor.

“I am proud to stand with the workers of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, and I am grateful for their trust and support in my campaign to represent them as Arizona’s next governor,” said Secretary of State Katie Hobbs. “I believe strongly in workers’ right to organize, and I plan on working across the aisle to make sure that they are protected and treated fairly in the workplace.”

“We need leaders like Secretary Hobbs–leaders who stand up for working families and stand with unions to provide fair wages and better working conditions,” said Juan Carlos Padilla, Business Representative at IUPAT District Council 36 & Local 86 in Arizona. “The Painters union knows that, with Katie Hobbs as Arizona’s governor, we have a leader fighting for us.”

“Secretary Hobbs has dedicated her career to making government work for us and helping working people. We will fight to make her Arizona’s next governor, because we know that with her, we have a voice at the table,” said Robert Smith, Political Director of IUPAT District Council 36. “As workers everywhere grapple with recovering from a global pandemic, we need a leader like Secretary Hobbs who knows how to unite people from all different backgrounds and get things done.”

The announcement is the second local labor union endorsement for Secretary Hobbs’ gubernatorial campaign.
