Former Avondale Mayor and Maricopa County Supervisor Marie Lopez Rogers Endorses Katie Hobbs for Governor

PHOENIX—Today, Former Avondale Mayor and Maricopa County Supervisor Marie Lopez Rogers endorsed Secretary Hobbs for Governor.

Secretary Hobbs has been a champion for Arizonans her entire career,” said former Avondale Mayor, Maricopa County Supervisor, and president of the National League of Cities Marie Lopez Rogers. “As a fellow social worker, I know that Katie Hobbs will always fight for those who have been overlooked or left behind. As governor, I know she will work with local leaders across the state so that all of our communities can thrive.

Before serving as a Maricopa County Supervisor, Marie Lopez Rogers served as mayor of Avondale and sat on the Avondale City Council for a decade. In 2013, she became the first Latina president of the National League of Cities — an organization of local leaders focused on improving the quality of life for their communities.

As a former social worker, her passion to help others inspired her career in public service. Rogers’ work within her community has been recognized by Valle Del Sol, Children’s Action Alliance, and former governor of Arizona, Janet Napolitano, who asked Mayor Rogers to serve on several committees. She looks forward to advocating for her community next to Katie Hobbs when she is elected Arizona’s next governor.
