CPLC Action Fund PAC Endorses Katie Hobbs for Arizona Governor

Hobbs joins Latino leaders, statewide candidates for announcement of support

PHOENIX — Today, Chicanos Por La Causa (CPLC) announced its support for Arizona Secretary of State and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs. At a press conference, Hobbs joined CPLC leaders and fellow down-ballot statewide candidates Adrian Fontes, candidate for Secretary of State; Kris Mayes, candidate for Attorney General; Kathy Hoffman, State Superintendent of Public Instruction; and Martin Quezada, candidate for State Treasurer.

“I’m honored to receive the support of CPLC Action Fund, one of the nation’s foremost organizations advocating for greater equity, justice, and opportunity for Latinos,” Hobbs said. “Arizona’s greatest challenges from rising costs to the teacher shortage crisis are disproportionately felt by communities of color. As governor, I will invite all Arizonans to the table to tackle our biggest issues so no one is left behind.”

“Katie Hobbs came to us to ask how she could better serve Latinos as governor. In frank discussion we shared our concerns, our challenges and our state’s opportunity to benefit from Latino empowerment. She listened. We also inquired about several specific issues concerning access to equity – from education to housing to representation including in key leadership roles – and she responded in a positive and affirmative way on each and every question,” said David Adame, Chairman of the CPLC board. “We thank Secretary Hobbs for reaching out to us. And now, we reach out to you – the voter – whether Democrat, Republican, independent, Latino or other. When you cast your ballot, put Arizona’s best interest at the forefront of your decision-making because that’s what Katie Hobbs will do when she is elected governor.”

Hobbs has released several plans to uplift working families across all communities in Arizona, such as her Inclusive Arizona plan which prioritizes new investments in Hispanic businesses, an education plan which prioritizes expanding universal access to pre-k and kindergarten starting in Hispanic communities, and a water plan that alleviates the disproportionate effects of the water crisis on communities of color. In September, Hobbs announced the Latinos for Hobbs coalition, which is chaired by Steve Gallardo, Danny Ortega, and Mary Rose Wilcox.
