Katie Hobbs Statement on Governor Ducey’s Radical Attempt to Overturn Roe v. Wade
PHOENIX—Yesterday, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey joined 11 Republican governors and other Arizona Republicans in asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade.
This amicus brief questions whether all pre-viability prohibitions on elective abortions are unconstitutional; their goal is to send women and their doctors to prison for choosing what to do with their reproductive health.
“This outrageous attempt to send women and doctors to prison for exercising the right to make their own medical choices is contrary to our values, and it’s another example of Arizona Republicans focusing on political theater — like the “audit” — rather than the real issues that face Arizona,” said Katie Hobbs. “Arizonans deserve to know: do the five GOP candidates for governor support Governor Ducey’s attempt to jail women and their doctors?”
Republican gubernatorial candidates have an obligation to let Arizonans know where they stand, and if they would join Governor Ducey’s calls to send doctors and women to prison.
