Katie Hobbs Calls on Legislature to Immediately Fix the School Funding Crisis

Hobbs Announces Phone Bank to Raise Awareness About the Aggregate Expenditure Limit and Participates in Teacher Walk-Out

PHOENIX — Today, Secretary of State and gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs hosted a virtual phone bank alongside education leaders and teachers, calling on Republican state legislators across Arizona to advocate for the suspension of the Aggregate Expenditure Limit (AEL).

Secretary Hobbs also joined Kenilworth Elementary teachers yesterday in a walk-out to protest the Aggregate Expenditure Limit.

As the inaction continues, Katie is urging Arizona lawmakers to work together and get rid of this unnecessary rule so that schools can access already-appropriated funding and children can continue learning. If the legislature refuses to act, this political move will likely result in teacher furloughs and school closures during an already difficult year.
