Katie Hobbs’ Solutions Can’t Wait Tour: Fighting For Reproductive Freedom

Hobbs will fight to restore reproductive healthcare access, blasts Lake’s uncompromising position on the right to abortion

TUCSON — Today, Arizona Secretary of State and Democratic nominee for Governor Katie Hobbs stood with Tucson Mayor Regina Romero and Planned Parenthood Chief External Affairs Officer Melissa Garcia to remind Arizonans that the right to safe and legal abortion is on the ballot this year.

At the press conference, Hobbs criticized her opponent Kari Lake’s deranged stance on banning abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest and criminalizing women and their doctors.

“Kari Lake is 100 percent against women’s reproductive rights,” Hobbs said. “She supports an abortion ban — that is a holdover from the Civil War era — that effectively outlaws abortion and requires prison time for doctors. She even supports forced pregnancies for victims of rape and incest, and is a threat to women’s access to contraception.”

“I was three years old when Roe v. Wade was decided,” Hobbs continued. “My daughter is 20 now, and I can’t believe that she will have fewer rights in 2022 than I did 50 years ago. Government mandated forced births that would risk women’s lives — that’s the reality if Kari Lake were to win this election.”

Back in May, Hobbs released her Bans Off Arizona plan that lays out how she would expand access to reproductive health care as governor.
