PHOENIX – Today, Katie Hobbs is proud to announce the endorsement of the Arizona Education Association (AEA), which represents more than 20,000 public school employees. The AEA is backing Gov. Hobbs due to her strong record of investing in public education, advocating for educators, and expanding opportunities for students.
“Katie Hobbs has been a champion for students, educators, and working families,” said Marisol Garcia, President of the Arizona Education Association. “She has been a leading voice for the importance of investing in our public schools — standing with educators as we push for higher pay and brighter futures for our students. AEA is proud to endorse Katie Hobbs for re-election because we know she will keep fighting to ensure every Arizona student has the chance to thrive.”
“As the sister of public school teachers, I’m proud to have the support of educators across Arizona who show up for our kids every day,” said Katie Hobbs. “I’ve seen up close how hard educators work to meet students where they are and help them succeed. That’s why I’ve made it a priority to support educators, parents, and students by raising teacher pay, launching programs to support apprenticeships and workforce training, and investing in safer, world-class learning environments. There’s more work to do, and I’ll keep fighting to make sure every Arizona student has the support and opportunities they need to thrive.”
Since taking office, Gov. Hobbs has made empowering students and educators a cornerstone of her administration, including:
- Investing in education and workforce training;
- Boosting average teacher pay to over $65,000 to help retain Arizona’s best teachers;
- Expanding Arizona Teachers Academy scholarships to include community college students in order to build a pipeline of new teachers;
- Preventing underfunded schools from laying off staff or closing their doors;
- Launching the BuildItAZ Apprenticeship Initiative and the Future48 Workforce Accelerators so more students can get the skills they need for good-paying jobs in construction, manufacturing, clean energy, and other fast-growing fields without needing a four-year degree;
- Delivering free school meals to 700,000 kids by bridging the summertime gap;
- Providing greater support to tens of thousands of military-connected students in Arizona and ensuring that schools meet their unique social and emotional needs;
- Securing the largest investment in school facilities in 15 years to build safer, more modern classrooms where Arizona students can learn and thrive.
