PHOENIX – Today, Governor Katie Hobbs proudly announced the endorsement of the Arizona Building and Construction Trades Council, which represents 17 construction unions and more than 20,000 highly skilled union workers who build Arizona’s most critical infrastructure. The Council is backing Gov. Hobbs because of her strong record of creating good-paying union jobs, strengthening safety on jobsites, and championing working families.

“As executive director, it is my honor to announce that the Arizona Building and Construction Trades Council unanimously endorses Gov. Hobbs for re-election,” said Michael Vazquez, Executive Director of the Arizona Building and Construction Trades Council. “Gov. Hobbs understands the workforce behind Arizona’s growth and delivers for us every day — from expanding apprenticeships and training pipelines, to ensuring jobsite safety, to attracting major projects that create good-paying union jobs. She knows the issues that matter to working families, and we look forward to continuing to partner with her to make sure companies know Arizona has the skilled labor needed to build safely, on time, and on budget.”

“I’m honored to have the support of the Arizona Building and Construction Trades Council and the more than 20,000 skilled union workers they represent,” said Gov. Katie Hobbs. “Arizona’s construction workforce powers our economy, builds our communities, and delivers the infrastructure that keeps this state moving forward. Since day one, I’ve worked to expand access to good-paying union jobs, strengthen training opportunities, and ensure jobsite safety is treated as the essential priority it is. Together, we are ensuring that when Arizona grows, working families benefit.”

Since taking office, Gov. Hobbs has made protecting and championing working families a cornerstone of her administration, including:

  • Launched a first-in-the-nation Heat Stress State Emphasis Plan to protect outdoor workers with requirements for water, shade, and rest on the hottest days;
  • Brokered a historic labor agreement at TSMC, ensuring safety, training pipelines, and good-paying jobs for Arizona workers on high-tech projects;
  • Created the Talent Ready AZ Initiative and established a first-of-its-kind Workforce Cabinet to align education, training, and economic agencies around one goal: connecting Arizonans to good-paying jobs in fast-growing industries like clean energy, cybersecurity, and advanced manufacturing;
  • Doubling the number of apprenticeships through the BuildItAZ initiative, with new investments and partnerships to train the next generation of trades professionals;
  • Delivered paid parental leave, childcare investments, and healthcare expansions for working families, including canceling $2 billion in medical debt, benefitting over one million Arizonans.
