Katie Hobbs Campaign Announces Latinos for Katie Hobbs
After meeting with Arizona’s Latino community leaders, the Hobbs campaign announces new coalition backing her campaign
PHOENIX – Today, Latino leaders and voters from across the state officially launched a new coalition to bolster Secretary of State Katie Hobbs’ campaign for governor. The Latinos for Katie Hobbs coalition underscores Hobbs’ commitment to delivering common-sense solutions to Arizonans of all backgrounds and her history of working hand-in-hand with Arizona’s diverse Latino communities.
Hobbs’ announcement comes after a breakfast roundtable for Latino leaders in Phoenix this morning hosted by Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Gallardo, who is serving as co-chair of the coalition along with Danny Ortega and Mary Rose Wilcox. Just last week, Hobbs launched her Spanish-language ad, “Works Better,” building on her commitment to reach voters across the state. The ad features small-business owner, Jorge Lerma, who endorses Hobbs for Governor and describes how she will lower costs and support businesses like his once she is in office. Hobbs will also participate in the gubernatorial candidate forum in October hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Univision Phoenix.
“Secretary Hobbs has the experience needed to govern our state from her time in the legislature and as Secretary of State. She has been in the trenches of state government and knows how to get the job done for all Arizonans,” said co-chairs of Latinos for Katie Hobbs, Steve Gallardo, Danny Ortega, and Mary Rose Wilcox. “We are honored to lead this coalition of Latino Arizonans who are enthusiastically throwing our support behind Hobbs’ campaign. Latinos make up over a third of our state and deserve a governor who will prioritize our needs. There is too much at stake and we are going to mobilize communities across Arizona to stop Kari Lake’s extreme agenda.”
“Arizona’s Latino communities represent a deeply rooted part of our history and cultural identity,” Hobbs said. “It is long past time that Arizona has a leader who will prioritize the needs of a group that makes up over a third of our state’s population. As governor, I promise to work day in, day out toward a future where all Arizonans will thrive.”
Hobbs has released policy plans that address issues disproportionately affecting communities of color, including everything from soaring inflation to the all-out attack on reproductive rights. Hobbs’ Inclusive Arizona plan promises to break down the barriers keeping Black, Latino and Indigenous people in Arizona locked out of the American Dream.
