Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union Throws Support Behind Katie Hobbs
PHOENIX — Today, both the Arizona State Council of Machinists and Aerospace Workers and the International Association of Machinists (IAM) Local SC310 endorsed Secretary of State Katie Hobbs for governor. Secretary Hobbs recently met with IAM Local SC310 members in Yuma and spoke about her longtime support of organized labor, her fight for workers’ rights while in the legislature, and her promise to protect and strengthen unions as governor.
“Arizona deserves a governor who understands the value that unions bring to the economy and the fight that workers face every day,” said Shay Blodgett, President of the Arizona State Council of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. “Katie Hobbs knows the value of service and has delivered for working families her entire career – I know she will bring that leadership to the Governor’s office.”
“I’m thrilled to have the support of the Machinists and Aerospace Workers, who know that electing a governor committed to protecting their rights is critical for Arizona’s workforce,” said Secretary Hobbs. “I believe that a strong and vibrant labor movement helps everybody and that when we stand united, we can secure the hard-earned benefits that working families deserve.”
As momentum continues to grow with record-breaking fundraising numbers, Katie Hobbs’ campaign has its sights set on winning in November. She has consolidated support from labor unions across the state, including the American Federation of Teachers Arizona, the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council 36, and more.
