From a Hobbs for Governor Press Release:
Today, Tucson Mayor Regina Romero endorsed Secretary of State Katie Hobbs for governor.
“Arizonans deserve a Governor who will deliver for working families, protect our water and natural resources, fully invest in our public schools, and defend our fundamental rights like the freedom to vote and the right to choose,” said Mayor Romero. “I’ve seen Katie Hobbs tackle big challenges, bring people together, and get things done. I know she will work with me and mayors across our state to make sure Southern Arizona is a critical partner in building a vibrant and resilient economy.”
“I’m honored to have Mayor Romero’s support. Her ability to break barriers and be an advocate for Arizonans exemplifies the campaign coalition we are building,” said Hobbs. “I am excited to get to work with Mayor Romero to make Arizona an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Romero was elected mayor of Tucson in 2019, becoming the first woman and first Latina to hold the position. Before being elected mayor, Romero served on the Tucson City Council, representing Tucson’s Ward 1.
Mayor Romero is dedicated to acting boldly on climate change, creating high-wage and long-term jobs, providing affordable housing, investing in infrastructure and education, and protecting immigrants’ and workers’ rights. Mayor Romero looks forward to collaborating on these issues when Hobbs is elected Arizona’s next governor.
